Day 1: Arrival and City Orientation

Upon arrival at Manuel Márquez de León International Airport, if you arrive hungry there’s no better welcome to your Mexican vacation than by savouring some authentic birria tacos at Birreria Jalisco (click the highlighted link for the Google Maps location)! Beef that's been slow simmered then shredded in a rich broth with a dash of white onion, a sprinkle of cilantro, and a squeeze of lime. Once satiated, settle into your accommodation and take a leisurely stroll along the Malecon, a scenic waterfront promenade that runs the length of La Paz. Immerse yourself in the laid-back atmosphere and appreciate the captivating views of the Sea of Cortez. For dinner, head to Nim Restaurante for an upscale dining experience offering a fusion of Mediterranean and Mexican flavours at reasonable prices.

Day 2: Island Hopping in Espiritu Santo

Embark on a full-day boat tour to Espiritu Santo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located just off the coast of La Paz. Marvel at the crystal-clear turquoise waters, rugged cliffs, and hidden coves as you snorkel, swim, and kayak in the company of playful sea lions. Enjoy a delicious beachside lunch prepared by your tour operator, featuring fresh seafood and local specialties. After a full day of outdoor activities, maybe grab a bottle of wine produced in neighbouring Baja California state's Guadalupe Valley and order a delicious wood-fired pizza from Fuego y Leña to be delivered and enjoyed in the comfort of your own accommodations.

Day 3: Whale Shark Encounter (seasonally dependent)

During the months of October to April, whale sharks gather in large numbers in La Paz Bay to feed on the nutrient-rich waters. If you're visiting within this window, start your day with an incredible experience: a guided excursion to swim with gentle whale sharks! Choose a well-known and well-reviewed operator so you can ensure your licensed captain and marine biologist guide will be following all procedures to ensure ethical interactions with these gentle giants. After your awe-inspiring encounter, you must enjoy a globally-famous meal originating right here in Baja California Sur - Baja fish tacos! Not far from where your tour will let you off, Claros Fish Jr. is known for its seafood dishes, including ceviche and of course, the capeado fish taco ('capeado' means battered and fried). Savour the flavours and reflect on your extraordinary adventure.

Day 4: Kayaking in the Mangroves of El Mogote

Embark on a kayaking adventure to the enchanting mangroves of El Mogote, offered by the Trip&homes Experiences Team. Paddle through the calm waters, surrounded by lush vegetation and diverse birdlife. Explore the intricate channels and appreciate the serene beauty of this unique ecosystem. After your kayaking excursion, make your way to Los Magueyes for a satisfying meal of authentic Mexican cuisine, including flavourful mole, enchiladas, and handmade tortillas. Finish off your night with a rooftop mezcal tasting and pairing by the certified experts at Mexican Spirits Club.

Day 5: Discover the Underwater World

La Paz is a paradise for divers, and today is the day to explore the vibrant underwater world. If you're a certified scuba diver, you can't do much better than El Bajo - three underwater mounts located between 52 and 83 feet of the surface, known all over the world for attracting pelagic fish like tuna, green eels, dolphin fish, sharks and one of the best spots to dive with hammerhead sharks. If you're more of a surface snorkeler, tours from La Ventana or La Paz can take you for a day of dedicated reef hopping. After your excursion, treat yourself to a well-deserved lunch at Mariscos El Toro Güero. This local eatery is renowned for its seafood tacos and ceviche, prepared with the freshest catch of the day, and sometimes with live music entertainment to boot!

Day 6: Balandra Beach and Snorkeling

Spend a relaxing day at Balandra Beach, renowned for its picturesque turquoise waters and stunning rock formations. You can make this trip with your own vehicle, taxi/Uber, or via the Playa Bus that leaves from the tourist bus station on the Malecon. Conversely, contact Trip&homes about exploring Balandra Beach either on a panga or your own private yacht. For a memorable dining experience, make your way to Bismarkcito, a waterfront restaurant known for its mouthwatering seafood platters, grilled octopus and lobster, and refreshing cocktails. Enjoy the scenic views and relish the flavors of the sea.

Day 7: Serene Farewell and Departure

On your final day, embrace relaxation and tranquility before heading to the airport. Begin your day with a soothing yoga session on the beach, allowing the gentle sound of the waves to rejuvenate your mind and body. Afterward, indulge in a leisurely lunch at Hana Sushi Mx, a newcomer to the La Paz foodie scene, but surely not going anywhere soon. Whether you're a vegetarian, a seafood aficionado, or a lover of bold and adventurous flavors, Hana Sushi has something to tantalize your taste buds. Don't forget to try their signature rolls, which are masterfully crafted with a harmonious blend of flavors and textures.
